Notes:This is a fine example of the little Pepperell 7/16" compression ignition engine in David Owen's collection. It has a bore of 7/16" (hence the name) and a stroke of 5/8", giving a capacity of 1.6cc, and weighs 4oz. It has a fixed jet and variable venturi, like the Atom .099 engine. Made in 1947 by V. (Vern) Pepperell, 35 Hill St, Onehunga S.E.5, New Zealand. Vern and his son, Ira, were a two man concern which made quite a number of engines in the 45-54 period. Note the correct spelling of the name.
